Death Level advice wanted...
... Any advice on maximizing efforts to gain as much exp as possible?
currently i bring 2 groups (7 Charr), they kill the monk and others then start in on killing me. If there is more than 1 Shaman i kill it so as to save me time later. I have noticed that most of the time half of the groups level up slower than the rest (i.e. there will be 3 level 18 charr and 4 level 13 charr), is this something experienced by others? When I get up in the AM I kill them off and drag 4 more charr over while i'm at work. |

Like Clan said, presearing.com is the best place to find out more about Death Leveling. I used that when I did it.
Also, yes, the groups usually leveled differently for me. I can't recall if they EVER leveled all together. Doubtful, though. Good luck getting the title. It'll just take time. =) |

The way I do it is to kill all the shamans before bunching them. Then I bunch up 5 groups before drawing them to the shrine (usually 10-15 Charr). Leave overnight.
In the morning, kill anything over my level (usually 1 or 2 groups has leveled up to that point). Go to work. In the evening, kill everything. Some people advocate only doing a DL if there are balanced groups, but I find that it doesn't matter - so long as you can kill off the ones that are stealing all the XP and allow the others to get a go. It's been a while since I DL'd though - got bored. I'll come back and get those characters to LDoA one of these days. |

Opinions vary regarding why one group usually levels up faster than the others. One theory says the majority of experience points for the kill go to the charr group that does the most total damage. Another says they go to the group that does the killing blow.
In either case, my observation from doing death leveling was that the number of hunters in the group correlate with the speed at which that group of charr levels up. So, a group containing two hunters is likely to level up faster than a group containing one hunter. Based on that, my preference was to look for groups containing at least 3 char (after shaman removal), and to avoid groups that consisted solely of two hunters. |

Back when I was DLing, I noticed that the groups that rangers tend to level their party the fastest. If there were 3 groups, and 1 group had a ranger, either of the other two groups will be lucky to gain 2 levels before the ranger group maxes out. And a 3 charr group with 2 rangers would keep the (supposedly higher DPS'd) 4 charr groups from gaining more than 1 lvl a night.
Personally I think it has something to do with the fact that the Hunters have Ignite Arrows, which deals a separate packet of damage, so in effect each attack hits twice. If you want charr to level equally, the best chance of it will be if it's exactly the same party composition (each group has 2 warrs and 1 mes for example.) It's not guaranteed, but it's the best chance you'll have that the two groups will be within 3 levels of each other when you wake up. |

I always had a few high lvls and the rest lower. And thats normal. It depends on alot of factors actually. But i don't know why anymore, so il suggest you take an look at presearing . com. in a guide everything is explained. I think it has something to do with the moment you kill the charr shamans. and because casters are leaders, and you can reset something. Ah well dunno anymore and what im saying.. Good luck!!

The best way to figure out a good leveling pattern is to do it for a few levels, an efficient method comes to everyone eventually. |

As mentioned above, groups with Hunters will often steal XP from all the other char, as because they use Ignite Arrows they are more likely to be the group that actually manages to kill you. The bit about killing the caster to reset the groups is load of complete hogwash.
The results you see, are fairly common when DL'ing for LDoA. One group will often gain XP faster than the others. |

Ahhh Death Leveling.
Basically you are on the right track. The only thing that I would change is pulling a third group for the extra damage to die faster. If you have oodles of gold then you can also buy a Vampiric h-1 mod to help you out. Also if time if pressed you can dl a strider in about 3 hours if you micro manage it and you are a war. - frenzy As for what lvl to kill the charr at, it will always be at your lvl +1. Now as for groupings, there is no way to tell what group will lvl faster as they gain XP by what seems to be how much damage the "group" does. Even though they are all miixed in as one giant group they are still in their single groups when it comes to counting xp. Much like you, when I dl my lvl 19 and 37% of the way to LDoA war/ranger, I will kill the groups off that reachlvl 20 (my lvl +1) bet when I was lvl 17 I would kill them all off and leave one sole charr (a hunter) to kill me so that that charr got ALL of the XP for killing me. !00xp at my lvl and 80 xp at a lvl above and well you get the drift. this only took 20 minutes or so for it to gain a hole nother lvl and I would get that extra bit of XP. It would average to 40 more xp a day for 40 minutes. It was just something that I liked to do. I am not sure if this was profitable or not but now at lvl 19 its a mute point. Also I have done all of the quest on my war 2 years ago before the title existed. If I had saved my quests I would be LDoA and not had to DL for another 2 weeks so if you have not that much time invested into your toon this might worth rolling that toon over. So, have fun we'll see you in Eye of the North with the title some time...that's where mine is going... |
